Yell and Tell Heroes – Injury

“My name is David and I am a second grade student. On January 10, I was sledding with a few friends as well as my two little sisters and my mom. My mom pushed me, my little sister and her friend down the hill. We were all on the same tube sled. We were on our bellies. Both girls were on top of me. As we went down the hill, I knew something was wrong because we were heading right for a tree. I tried to yell at the girls to get off by saying, Jump Off!! But they didn’t listen. So then I pushed them both off using all my arm strength. I did not have enough time to get myself off. I managed to move the sled backwards to avoid hitting the tree with my head. My leg ended up taking the hit. I knew my leg was broken right when I hit it. I was in pain, but really hoping to get a short cast on Monday, February 8. I am in a wheelchair at school and use crutches some of the time. Thanks for listening to my story.”
